Schefflera requires plenty of sunlight to thrive however it should not be placed in direct sunlight. In the summer months the most important thing is to ensure that the sun does not reach the plant, not even through windows. Windows can make the sun more hazardous. If you keep the windows in direct sunlight these plants' leaves can be burned.

It is essential to ensure that you don't over-water this plant, or it could cause root rot. Make sure to water it only once the soil has dried. You can water it either from the top or bottom. If you water it from the bottom, place the pot in water for approximately 10 minutes, and the plant will absorb the water it needs.

If you water it from the top, you can water till the liquid flows into the bottom. If the leaves are turning dark it means the soil is getting too moist. When the leaves appear to be wrinkled upwards, it means that the plant is drying out.
